your guide to better sleep

 


Hi all! This is your guide to better sleep and feeling rested and refreshed when you wake up. There's so much research that has gone into this, so be prepared for a looonggg blog post.



<3: exercise!

Exercising helps you fall asleep since your body is tired after working out and sweating and doing hard cardio or lifting weights, etc. And bonus point: exercising keeps you healthy which can lead to living a happy, healthy, and long life.

<3: lavender on your pillow

Research also shows that nice scents and aromas (like lavender) can help you fall into a beautiful deep sleep. So you can spray or put some essential oils on your pillow to help you fall asleep.

<3: mediate!

Mediating calms you and gets you into a sleepy and calm mood - perfect to fall asleep.

<3: avoid screens and electronics!

Screens and blue light trick your brain into thinking it's daytime, leading it to having a hard time falling asleep. So about 2 hours before your bedtime, eliminate the devices. 

<3: make a cozy and perfect enviroment for your sleepy time

Step one, make a rule for no screens in your bed area and say yes to cozy blankets and pillows, your pet (if you have one), beloved stuffies, small lamps, and quilts. Anything that makes you feel cozy and calm and sleepy.

<3: turn off all lights!

Lights keep you alert and awake and we don't want that.

<3: spend lots of time outdoors in the day!
Just do it (NIKE)!

<3: have a nice warm shower

warm showers feel good and are relaxing (in my opinion) and they help you fall asleep

other stuff:

<3: drink tea!

<3: do yoga!

<3: read a book!

<3: journal

<3: chat with your family
