barbie behind the scenes + thoughts!

 

! SPOILERS AHEAD ! If you haven't already watched Barbie, don't read this article.

I'm sure you've seen the HIT movie Barbie sometime this July! So did I. Sorry for the rhyme, I promise it wasn't intended..ack. 

It's full of pink and jokes and even adventure (the running part) and also the soundtrack might be my favorite soundtrack I've ever heard from a movie. Very high praise. I was very surprised that so many well-known artists were on the soundtrack so that was very cool :0 ;) I can't choose my favorite song on the soundtrack so don't make me...but u can! Comment ur fave, or if u can't choose, comment ur barbie soundtrack song of the day. I think dua lipa's dance the night away song is the song of the summer. Watch me..DAaaaNCE dance the night away! I'll still keep the party running with not one hair out of place <3. I also think "Speed Drive" is very catchy and perfect for driving in the night. And of course "Barbie World" is a classic. Love the ice spice, nicki minaj, and aqua. And I also really liked how there were sort of two versions of "pink" by Lizzo. There was one for her perfect day and one where she's thinking about death and starts malfunctioning. But I am not really supporting Lizzo now due to her being in court for not treating her dancers good, which is shocking to me because I think Lizzo's brand is like empathy and kindess. (But that's another story.. wink, wink)

So now I will be sharing some BTS pics that I found on the web and saying some more of my thoughts.

One thing I noticed in the movie was that Margot (Barbie) didn't really have an Australian accent which I think she does in real life. I don't really know that much about Margot but I'm pretty sure she has an Australian accent, though. And in the movie she doesn't sound Australian at all. She sounds, like, American. I guess she just changed it for the whole movie. That's crazy. It would be super hard for me to change my accent for a whole movie.

I love all the characters so much and they did a great casting job! I loved the little moments in the movie where Dua Lipa was sort of mentioned. Like, she said "Hi, Barbie" in the beginning when everyone was saying "Hi, Barbie, hi barbie hi barbie hi barbie" and she said, "Want a beer?" when the Kens brainwashed the Barbies and said, "Bye, Barbie! Good luck in reality," when Barbie was going to the real world. I love Dua Lipa and it was like a cute little suprise that she had a few lines in the movie. 

  

I think I am most like President Barbie out of the Barbies. Comment which barbie u think u are (no pressure if u don't know tho)! Another thing one of my friend's noticed when we were watching it is that Sasha's outfits change throughout the movie as she becomes more of a Barbie fan. In the beginning when she makes Barbie cry she's wearing all black, and when she visits BarbieLand she wears a purple jacket with a white top and jeans, when Barbie tells Ken he should find who he is, she's wearing a pink dress with a black belt thingy, and in the very end, she's wearing an all hot pink top.

I also love how it's girls night every night and I love the whole Barbieland. The houses clearly had a lot of thought gone into them and that's very cool. I think it would be a very cool job to design the little objects like the toothbrush and the plates and the toaster and the little miniature versions of the houses. I also like Gloria's (Sasha's mom) outfits throughout the movie as well. The purple blazer, the sort of floral magenta and orange blouse. 

Another really funny character was the CEO of Mattel. We have all-gender bathrooms. I am the mother of a son. Please call me Mother. I think my favorite character is probably Stereotypical Barbie. I love the I am Kenough and I want to buy the tie dye hoodie which you can buy on the Mattel website or something. And at the end when Barbie is heading to her doctor's appointment and she says her name is Barbra Handler I have lots of questions about that. Is she now Ruth Handler's daughter? Is her last name now Handler since she came into the real world? Is her last name Roberts in Barbieland but now since she's in the real world it's Handler? And what's her future? What's her job? 

Also I just want to shoutout Greta Gerwig. Love her so much! This is probably my favorite film she has made! Luv u greta if you see this <3 

And finally I just wanted to say how much I love the Barbie Dreamhouses, and how you can see through each house and wave to each other in the morning. I love the pool and the slide, I love the Barbie door with the B handles. And I especially love how her outfit is magically laid out and she just twirls and it's on her, and then her outfit for the next day is magically there laid out for when she comes to her closet the next morning. 

Cross your fingers for a Barbie II!
